Question: Can my cocktails be trained do things based on the tone/style of my whistle?

Without a doubt! Even a facial expression can be effective sometimes. Birds rely on sound as well as body language so if you're patient and persistent your little teil will do almost anything for you.

They surely can. You train them the same way as teaching them to talk. Repetition, Repetition but try not to be too complicated. Let them learn the basics before you progress further.

Yes! We are learning about birds every day... where the research stands, heck, being called a "bird brain" is a compliment! Cockatiels and other parrots are very, very intelligent. This is an area with a lot of ongoing research - studying how birds learn help us figure out how to help humans learn. I have also seen some interesting research about the intelligence of crows.

Birds are a lot smarter than we used to think. Have fun with your wonderful birds!
